The Sonoma Marine Protected Area Collaborative needed multiple videos to raise awareness about the implementation of the Marine Protected Areas along the Sonoma Coast starting with this :60 PSA for broadcast, hotel, visitor centers and web distribution.

Goal:
Create a branded series of videos for the Sonoma Marine Protected Areas to raise awareness about the presence and ecological benefit of the Marine Protected Areas along the Sonoma Coast. The Public Service Announcement was the most externally driven video to appeal to a wide range of visitors and stakeholders.
Strategy:
Create a campaign to highlight the many uses and benefits of the marine protected areas along the Sonoma Coast. The central, externally facing :60 PSA was designed to be distributed on multiple platforms highlighting our campaign tag, Our Ocean. Our Future. This positions the work being done by the Marine Protected Areas as critical to the Sonoma Coast’s future, which is visited by thousands of visitors annually, both for recreation, work, and to experience this unique ecological resource.
Audience:
Sonoma Coast visitors and local stakeholders, including resource managers, scientists, rangers, surfers, kayakers, divers, and local engaged citizens who live, work, and play in the area.
Approach:
We told this story through the eyes of the diverse stakeholders who work, recreate, explore, and enjoy the Sonoma Coast. We use on screen text to highlight the different relationships to the coast, and the many benefits this amazing coastline brings us.
Impact:
The PSA has had extensive distribution on social media and broadcast media in Sonoma, with views in the tens of thousands. The tag, Our Ocean. Our Future. is still being used by the California Marine Protected Areas in their campaigns.
