KEVIN WHITE (CO-FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR)
Kevin is an award-winning producer, director, and writer who has worked in media since 1982. In 1984 he founded Full Frame Productions, and in 1988 he founded the nonprofit Filmmakers Collaborative SF with filmmaker Michal Aviad. Kevin serves as the Executive Director of FCSF, overseeing all programs and playing a hands-on role in consulting and mentoring FCSF members.
Kevin has produced and directed dozens of films including the titles Wilder than Wild: Fire, Forests, and the Future, Saving Species Together, Sands of War, Not All Parents Are Straight, We Bring a Quilt, Speaking Up, A Land Between Rivers, Restoring Balance, Returning Home, Return Flight, From the Ground Up and A Simple Question (the latter two made with filmmaking colleague David Donnenfield).
His films have been screened at the Berlin Film Festival, San Francisco Film Festival, Hot Springs Film Festival, Wild & Scenic Film Festival, the International Wildlife Film Festival, and many others. His work has received multiple awards including Emmys, CINE Golden Eagles, ACE Awards and many others, while also being broadcast on PBS, National Geographic, Discovery, Bravo, and ABC.
In 2010, Kevin and his colleague David Donnenfield received the Harold Gilliam Award for Environmental Reporting from The Bay Institute for their How On Earth video series. Kevin has presented at film festival panels, the Documentary Summit, the North American Congress for Conservation Biology, the National Conference on Environmental Restoration, and many other events.
MICHAL AVIAD (CO-FOUNDER)
Michal is an award-winning producer, director, and writer who has been making films in the United States and Israel since 1984. Her internationally distributed films include the documentaries, Acting Our Age, The Woman Next Door, Ever Shot Anyone, Jenny & Jenny, Ramleh, For My Children, The Woman Pioneers, Dimona Twist, and Working Woman to name a few.
In 2011, Michal directed her first feature-length narrative film, Invisible, which screened at more than 30 film festivals and received top awards at the Berlin Film Festival, Haifa Film Festival, and International Woman’s Film Festival.
Her second feature-length narrative film, Working Woman, screened at over 30 film festivals and was named a best movie of 2019 by L.A. Times film critic, Kenneth Turan.
Her films have been screened at dozens of film festivals including Sundance, the Berlin Film Festival, Telluride Film Festival, San Francisco International Film Festival, Jerusalem Film Festival, INPUT, and many others. Her work has been broadcast on PBS, ARTE, ZDF, Channel 4, and many other stations, receiving dozens of distinguished awards from film festivals and broadcasters through the world.
Michal is a faculty member at Tel Aviv University’s Department of Film and Television. She is also Co-Founder and Artistic Director at the Israeli International Women’s Film Festival.
Amy Lim
(Associate DIRECTOR)
Amy is a producer and marketer with experience in video, film, and social media content. She has been the Associate Producer on numerous documentary films, including Saving Species Together and Wilder than Wild: Fire, Forests, and the Future, both of which were broadcast on PBS. Her exhibit work includes videos for Gold Mountain: Chinese Californian Stories, a signature exhibit at The California Museum. Amy is passionate about social and environmental issues, Asian American media, and uplifting marginalized voices. She holds a B.A. in Film and Rhetoric from UC Berkeley.
For Filmmakers Collaborative SF’s productions, Amy works on producing projects, developing content, research, and distribution.
Amy also works on FCSF’s filmmaker support services, including the membership program and fiscal sponsorship program.
